Carlos Allende papers, 1943-1994 (bulk 1957-1984)

The collection contains documents and materials used by Carlos Allende for his research on the "Philadelphia Experiment", Unified Field Theory, interstellar space travel, and UFOs. Documentation includes letters to and from Allende and various authors and professors in the scientific community, newspaper clippings, his military history with discharge forms, a letter of presidential commendation from Harry Truman, his personal writings, government documents, and other printed material. Much of the collection is photocopied.

Carlos Allende was born May 31, 1925 in Springdale, PA. During World War II he served in the Marines from July of 1942 to May of 1943. He claimed to have witnessed the disappearance of the U.S. destroyer escort USS Eldridge while serving aboard the SS Andrew Furuseth in what became known as the "Philadelphia Experiment," and that afterwards he was personally tutored by Albert Einstein on Unified Field Theory.
